Cuối năm 1996, Boyzone tiếp tục cho ra mắt single thứ 2 có tên A Different Beat trích từ album cùng tên.

Tiếp nối thành công từ Words, Single này trụ hạng #1 tại bảng xếp hạng UK và #2 tại Ireland.

Giai điệu của A Different Beat mang hơi hướng nhạc dân tộc, lai lai vùng thổ dân Nam Mỹ với nhịp trống trong các buổi lễ của họ.

Ro và Steo dẫn lead, tuy nhiên khoe giọng cao và trong chủ yếu vẫn là phần của Steo. MV của single đc quay cùng năm, đúng như giai điệu của A Different Beat, clip này cũng có nhiều cảnh gợi đến văn hóa của người dân da đen.

Trong liveshow Back Again, phần trình diễn single này là phần ưa thích của Steo và Keith với động tác vung tay được khán giả làm theo và tạo thành một hiệu ứng khá đẹp mắt.
